Chairman of the West Indies selection panel Clyde Butts says the women’s game in the region is on the rise and is confident the players will do well and continue to show improvement. “There is no doubt the talent is there and this is a unit that will get better,” Butts said.
“We have some very young players with good cricketing skills and I believe that we can challenge the rest of the world.”
Butts was speaking after the selectors named a 14-member squad for a tour of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in October and November.
The captain is Nadine George, the experienced left-handed opener, who was also at the helm during the successful tour of Europe in June and July.
The vice-captain is Kirbyina Alexander, an experienced seamer who will spearhead the bowling attack.
The only Guyanese on eth squad is Erva Giddings.
