Carlos Reid celebrated his birthday yesterday by slamming 13 fours and five sixes in 101 before taking 3-43 with his spin to spearhead GYO to victory against Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS) at the GYO ground in latest action in the Beharry Cup second division 40-overs cricket competition.
Reid got support from Vijay Gangaram (46), Anil Manikchand (40), John Campayne (31*) and Samuel Ward (26) as GYO reached 306-9 off their allotted 40 overs on the small ground.
Kenroy Joseph grabbed 3-74 and Sherwin Vincent 3-45 for MCYS who dismissed for 232 despite 78 from Kevin Dazzle, 44 from Arnim Griffith and 26 from Basheer Khan.
Reid was supported with the ball by Manikchand (2-15) and Campayne (2-38).
At GNIC, David Rajmangal top scored with 62 as the host made 286-9 against Ace Warriors and then captured 5-11 with his spin as the visitors fell for 197 although Rawl Enmore thumped six fours and seven sixes as he missed his second century in the competition by four runs.
Delroy Charles (39), Stephon Hope (30*), Travis Walton (28) and Jermaine Grosvenor (21) supported Rajmangal as Roger Aaron bagged three wickets and Abjal Gafoor and Keron Goodridge two wickets each for Ace Warriors.
Enmore (96) and Gafoor (42) added 102 for the first wicket while Aaron (19) was the only other batsman to reach double figures as Rajmangal grabbed a five-wicket haul and off-spinner Nikta Nester took 3-27.
At MSC, the home team defeated GDF by three wickets after making 122-7 in reply to the Soldier’s 121.
Sherwin McCalman made 42 and Terry Fraser for GDF as off-spinner Shaquille Williams took 3-12 and got support from Simeon Sam (2-16) and Denis Legay (2-32) for MSC.
Danny Narayan hit an unbeaten 63 as Keith Fraser took 3-25 and left-arm spinner Clinton Collins had 2-25.
On Saturday, MSC beat GNIC by 87 runs at MSC after the hosts made 155 and then shot out GNIC for 68.
Sarfraz Esau top scored with a classy 55, Danny Narayan (26) and Delvorn Mc Ewan (22) batted well while Harrinarine Jaggernauth 2-11, Sam (2-14), Daniel Gravesande (2-11) and Williams (2-5) bowled well for Malteenoes.
At GDF on Saturday, GDF made 240 with Keith Fraser making 55 and adding 92 for the first wicket with Sherwin McCalmont (50) before Vijay Singh contributed 72.
Gafoor snatched 6-32 for Ace Warriors who made 78 all out with Roger Aaron making 22.
Collins took 3-16. Terry Fraser 2-15, Keith Fraser 2-9 and Travis Johnson 2-15 bowled well for the Army.
At GYO on Sunday, the host made 189-8 with Alex Ramalho making 53 and Ward 25 as Latchman Persaud took 3-35 for Police who fell for 190-5 off 26 overs as Cecil Adams (46), Jason Heyliger (64*) and Rawl Browne (45*) batted well. Vickram Panday took 3-42.
