Irfan Ally has been identified as the most eligible candidate for Minister of Housing and Water.
A government source yesterday said that when brainstorming began for the possible candidate for the position, Ally was named the most appropriate nominee.
According to the source, the other alternative is to move one of the ministers that have already been appointed.
This, the source said, will then leave another post vacant and as such yet another replacement will have to be sought.
President Jagdeo announced on Thursday that Minister of Housing and Water, Harrinarine Nawbatt, has been appointed Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil.
The Head of State’s confirmation came days after reports stated that Minister Nawbatt was to be the ambassador to that country.
The Head of State pointed out that while Nawbatt’s current position will be vacant, this would only be for a short while as he would reveal the Minister’s replacement shortly. Ally is currently a People’s Progressive Party Member of Parliament.
