DEAR EDITOR,
On 25th June, 2008, the Guyana Chronicle carried a letter from Mr. Godfrey Skeet which is a crie de coeur for African Guyanese to rise out of the morass of crime, poverty, unstable families and general backwardness.
Skeet’s offering is, however, too condemnatory and should have been accompanied with positive suggestions of how Afro-Guyanese and their leadership could extricate themselves from the syndrome.
The best concise exposition of such advice I have ever seen is Accabre Nkofi’s recent booklet “Rebirth Of The Blackman” which is obtainable at the bookstores.
The book costs a little more than a bus fare and should be essential reading for those who wish the Blackman to enter a world of social and economic betterment. Skeet may do well to read it. R. Williams
