2026 DVF Men’s League: Blasters, Premier Eagles continue form as Volleyball action intensifies
(Kaieteur News) – The Classic Ball Blasters (CBB) clinched another commanding victory over the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) as volleyball action continues to gain momentum following some intense showdowns this past week at the National Gymnasium.
The 4th game of the tournament was headlined by a sterling performance from Dua Grant who powered the Blasters with 11 points and 1 block, showcasing his dominance at the net and inspiring his team’s winning, relentless attack and sharp defence which kept the momentum in their favour throughout the battle.
Blasters had a brilliant game this past week as action continued in the DVF Men’s League.
Micah Chichester added crucial firepower with 7 points and 1 ace serve, further reinforcing Grant’s star performance as they won three sets on their way to victory.
GDF fought hard, led by Alex Fung-Fook who had 7 points with help from Stephon Norah who had 6 points, nevertheless showing grit and determination in a loss.
Meanwhile, Premier Eagles Volleyball Club also maintained their win streak after handing Vanguard Volleyball Club a loss by winning 3 sets.
Senior player, Ian Baggot delivered another commanding performance, leading with 10 points and an ace serve as his team exerted their dominance.
Meanwhile, the DVF will be hosting their Independence tournament, hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sports on Saturday May 23; as part of the country’s Independence Jubilee Celebration.
Both male and female competitors will play for the first place prize of GYD $100K: with 4 male and 4 female first division teams set to put on an intense show.
The finals will be played under a best of 3 format, with action teeing off from 9:00h and is set to bring down curtains at 19:00h; followed by a presentation ceremony.
