(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division Seven are investigating the discovery of a firearm and ammunition during an operation at Sherima, Region Seven, on Saturday.
According to police, ranks conducting the operation at about 9:30 hrs stopped and searched a motor lorry driven by a 32-year-old man of Timehri North, East Bank Demerara. He was accompanied by a 20-year-old Venezuelan national.
During the search, officers reportedly found a 9mm Taurus pistol and three matching rounds of live ammunition concealed in a storage compartment of the vehicle.
The truck driver was arrested and taken to the Sherima Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged.
He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
