(Kaieteur News) The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has captured the last remaining suspect in connection with the discovery of ten AK-47 rifles in Berbice.
In a release on Thursday, police confirmed that Ryan Singh, called ‘Satan’, 34, has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, contrary to Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Singh, a labourer of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, was one of four wanted men in connection with the alleged unlicensed possession of ten AK-47 rifles, discovered at East Coast Berbice.
He appeared before Magistrate Alisha George at the Leonora Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where the charge was read to him. Singh pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied, and he was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to 10th July, 2026.
Meanwhile, his two other alleged accomplices — 21-year-old Gregory Anthony Persaud, called ‘Greg’ of Farm, New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, and Antonio Alonzo Lawrie, called ‘Lanzo’ a wash bay owner also of the same area — remain in police custody after turning themselves in to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Georgetown on June 4, accompanied by their lawyer. Both were remanded to prison on June 8.
Steven Rajah, 33, who was initially remanded in connection with the matter, has since secured bail in the sum of $1 million, granted by Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court. Bail was secured through Rajah’s attorney, Charandass Persaud.
Rajah, of Goed Fortuin Village, West Bank Demerara, was the first to be apprehended after police made the major discovery of ten AK-47 rifles at No. 11 Village, East Coast Berbice, on May 22.
