Time to fix the flooding problem near the government sand pit
Dear Editor,
I wish to draw the attention of the relevant authorities and the general public to the worsening flooding situation along the Linden Highway in the vicinity of Splashmins Resort, close to the Government Sand Pit.
Whenever there is heavy rainfall, this section of the roadway becomes heavily flooded, creating serious difficulties for the hundreds of motorists who travel to and from Linden daily. While larger vehicles such as trucks are generally able to traverse the area because of their height, drivers of motor cars, motorcycles, and even some minibuses are often forced to take significant risks in order to continue their journey.
Unfortunately, many motorists who attempt to cross the flooded section end up suffering engine damage and other mechanical problems, resulting in costly repairs and unnecessary hardship. For working people who rely on their vehicles to earn a living and support their families, these expenses can be devastating.
This problem has persisted for far too long and appears to be the result of inadequate drainage in the area. Every time there is a period of heavy rainfall, road users are faced with the same frustrating and dangerous conditions. It is clear that a long-term solution is urgently needed.
I am therefore appealing to the Honourable Minister of Public Works to urgently investigate this matter and take the necessary steps to correct it. The Linden Highway is a major transportation artery that connects communities, businesses, and workers. Citizens should not have to fear vehicle damage or unsafe driving conditions simply because of poor drainage and flooding.
The situation near Splashmins Resort and the Government Sand Pit has moved beyond being a minor inconvenience. It has become a recurring hazard that deserves immediate attention from the relevant authorities.
I trust that swift action will be taken in the interest of public safety and the welfare of all road users.
