Dear Editor,
During the week, with a friend, we had need to visit a clinic at the Georgetown Hospital, the following things are worthy of note, first a Guyanese who claimed he lived in the South, said he was there since 7am and at 9:30 am, had not yet seen a medical officer. Second; at the same time, I will say, about 20 to 25 percent of those who were awaiting medical attention, were Spanish speaking persons. What is also a problem, is that government is supplying drugs, not of the best quality, but imported by a friend of the government. Further certain drugs that are available in other Caribbean territories are yet to be available in Guyana.
I mention this because our government has agreed to bring in foreigners to occupy space in Guyana. I suppose that the president will build a complex at State House, or a number of flats at his mega farm, or a high-rise at Leonora, and all these additional accommodations will not be airconditioned, will not have electric fans, but will be provided with stripes of cardboard if our new special guest are concerned about the present heat, to avoid further problems as stated by the head of GPL. In keeping with what we heard from the president the honorary guest will be banned from eating out.
Yours Respectfully,
Nigel Bacchus

(Kaieteur News) – I am not surprised that electricity demand in Linden has surged by more than 135 per cent from its 2005 level. In fact, given the price at which electricity is supplied there, it would be surprising if demand had not surged. The figures tell the story. Electricity consumption...Sep 06, 2026

Hard truths… (Kaieteur News) – Never knew Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo to be sneaky. Sloppy, hostility personified and sleeker than mercury, he can be. But not sneaky, not he.
