In the national discourse of Guyana, few political habits are as intellectually flawed as the persistent attempt to draw direct equivalencies between two leaders as ongoing reference points for modern governance. Modern Guyana does not need historical equivalencies; it requires an unyielding commitment to democratic integrity, a laser focus on economic policy, and leaders who possess the institutional maturity to confront past mistakes.
Focusing on personalities over policy prevents true economic transformation. Guyana cannot build a prosperous future while remaining hostage to the political ghosts of the past.
