GGMC reminds gold operators of obligation to submit accurate records of production or risk losing licence
(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) has warned miners, permit holders, claim holders and tributors that failure to submit gold production and sales records by the upcoming deadline could result in the suspension of mining permits, licences and operations.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, GGMC reminded stakeholders of their statutory obligation under the Mining Act and sections of the Guyana Gold Board Act to maintain accurate records of gold production and provide documentary evidence showing that gold was sold only to the Guyana Gold Board (GGB) or licensed gold traders and dealers.
“Failure to comply with these statutory requirements shall result in the suspension of mining permits, licences and operations without prejudice to any additional regulatory enforcement or legal action available to the Commission under the laws of Guyana,” it was stated.
GGMC also urged miners and operators to ensure full and timely compliance with the reporting requirements.
According to the GGMC, all gold production records and evidence of gold sales for the period ending January to June 30, 2026, must be submitted to the Commission no later than June 30. Records can be submitted through the Mines Division WhatsApp platform using a designated QR code or by email to economist@ggmc.gov.gy.
