Fisherman on $200k bail for sexual activity with underage relative
(Kaieteur News) – A 59-year-old fisherman was placed on $200,000 bail for an alleged sexual activity with a child family member. The act was reportedly committed on April 11 at Charity, Essequibo Coast, Region 2.
The fisherman appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrates’ Court on May 6, before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Though bail was granted, the fisherman is mandated to report to the Charity Police Station every Friday and must stay 100 feet away from the victim until the outcome of the matter.
Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives are displeased with the decision to release the fisherman on bail.
June 1, 2026 has been set for disclosure of statements.
