Elderly man’s body discovered in trench after suspected collapse
(Kaieteur News) – The body of a pensioner was discovered in a trench at Lancaster Village, Corentyne on Saturday.
Dead is Totoram Rambarran, known in the community as ‘Tot’ and ‘Ninja’.
He was said to be in his early 70s, according to information reaching this publication.
The discovery was reportedly made by passers-by on Saturday, who believed that the man may have been intoxicated before stumbling into the trench.
His nephew told Kaieteur News that Rambarran lived on his own in a property not too far from him. He explained that he was away when he received the news about his uncle.
“Saturday, I was in Georgetown and I hear my uncle passed away, that he drowned. I don’t know which part he drowned.”
He confirmed that his uncle was an alcoholic and believe that may have led to his demise.
Rambarran’s body was taken to the Ramoo’s Funeral Home on the Corentyne.
