Bids opened for construction of Biomedical Engineering Department
(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health has received 15 bids for the construction of a Biomedical Engineering Department that will be located at Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
The bids which were opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office recently revealed that contractors bid between $87 million and $195 million to execute the works.
The ministry said Biomedical engineering is critical since it improves the delivery of quality healthcare services.
Back in 2023, when the Health Ministry launched its Biomedical Programme 39 persons were trained. Minister Dr. Frank Anthony at the time said that biomedical technicians and engineers are very important, especially since healthcare technologies are evolving rapidly.
