(Kaieteur News) – A 19-year-old Corentyne youth perished in an early morning accident along the No. 72 Village Public Road Corentyne, after his vehicle slammed into a parked truck on Monday.
Dead is Nathaniel Busdgith of Lot 38, No. 76 Village, Corentyne.
Imran Ally, the father of the deceased, told this publication that he was at work when he received word of the tragedy.
“This morning I left for work, and at work, I received the news that my son get into an accident. From there I left and I went to the accident scene, but when I reached there, he was already by the hospital,” Ally related.
Upon reaching the No. 75 Village Hospital at about 09:34 hrs, doctors informed him that his son was in a critical state. The grieving father related an eyewitness’ account, which stated that the teen was attempting to avoid a collision with another car that reportedly swerved suddenly onto his lane.
“While in the hospital, a teacher said that she was at the scene, and my son was driving going towards New Amsterdam, and a car was coming from the opposite direction and pulled in his lane, so he had to pull to the corner. When he pull into the corner, there was something on the road and he hit it and then he hit the truck.”
The young man, who had only a month ago acquired the vehicle, succumbed moments after he was taken to the No. 75 Village Hospital.
He suffered severe injuries to the right side of his head, his chest which was left swollen, and had other major internal injuries, his father disclosed.
Busdgith was the eldest of four children, and was recognised for his loving and helpful disposition, his family confirmed. He was unemployed at the time of his passing.
Meanwhile, the owner of the parked truck told Kaieteur News that he and his family were at home that morning when they heard a loud impact which sounded like a collision at about 07:50 hrs. The truck was parked in front of a warehouse he operated. His house is located across the road.
“We hear the impact. I was at home. When we come out, we see this accident here. Then they come and they tried rescuing the young driver. He was just breathing hard, and when they took him to the hospital, later in the day we heard he passed away.”
He explained that the extent of the vehicle’s damage is consistent with speeding.

Unemployed but, acquired a car only a month ago.
The damaged car is certainly consistent with speeding.
Very little could a driver do to control his speeding vehicle,
when losing control of a 4000 pound machine.
Parking on roadside is dangerous. Police should impound
the truck since it’s illegal to park on the roadside.
