(Kaieteur News) – A 30-year-old miner was on Wednesday arrested in connection with a quantity of marijuana discovered at 4th Avenue Bartica during a police operation.
In a statement to the media the police said during the operation, ranks went to a shop at the location, where a 30-year-old miner of Three Miles, Bartica was contacted. A search was conducted on his person, during which one transparent plastic bag containing five transparent zip-lock bags with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found,” police said.
There were further searches carried out within the shop and another transparent plastic bag which contained 21 transparent ziplock bags with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.
The suspect along with the narcotics, was escorted to the Bartica Police Station, where the narcotics was weighed in his presence, amounting to 18 grams. It was lodged and the suspect remains in custody pending investigations.
