Fire destroys Lusignan building
The aftermath of a fire which destroyed a building at Massacre Street, Track A Lusignan, East coast Demerara.
(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Fire said it is investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed a building at Lot 11 Massacre Street, Track ‘A’ Lusignan, East Coast Demerara on Friday.
According to a brief statement from the fire service, responding to the report, upon arrival at the location, firefighters saw the building fully engulfed in flames, with the fire threatening a nearby structure.
“Water Tender #125, #131, #123 from Mahaica, Campbellville and Melaine Fire Station responded. Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, the blaze was brought under control and prevented from spreading further,” the fire service reported.
Unfortunately, the building and its contents were completely destroyed. As a result of the blaze, the GFS disclosed that the western wall of the nearby building was severely damaged. An investigation is ongoing.
