(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Public Works is seeking contractors to execute several upgrades to the Supenaam Ferry Stelling in Region Two.
According to the tender notice, bids are being sought for the upgrade of mooring, catwalk and fender system for the western ro-ro system at the stelling.
The ministry is also planning to expand the northern section of the ferry docking terminal (phase one).
During the consideration of budget estimates earlier this year, Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill said some $500 million was set aside to upgrade the Supenaam Stelling.
The minister stated at the time that Supenaam is becoming a hot spot and the people of Essequibo are very pleased with the level of connectivity being enjoyed, however, the facilities are aging and need upgrading.
“We have to get the catwalk fixed…We want to expand the northern section of the ferry docking terminal and the general upgrade at Supenaam,” he said.
Bids are expected to open on May 6, 2026 at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB).
