Kaieteur Sports – Desperate battles for the top two spots intensified on Thursday as round two action in the 12th Annual Massy Distribution Schools Under-18 Football Tournament produced another day of thrilling action at the Queen’s College ground.
With ideal conditions, gusty winds under clear blue skies and a well-prepared playing surface—teams took full advantage, delivering fast-paced and competitive encounters highlighted by goals, hat-tricks, comebacks, and a few emphatic lop-sided victories.

Round three action set for Saturday and Sunday at the Queen’s College ground as Massy U18 Football moves closers to knockout round.
The day opened with a pulsating 2-2 draw between Charity Secondary and Lodge Secondary. Charity struck early, as Johnny Smith found the back of the net within the first three minutes to hand his side the advantage. Lodge responded through Kemonthy Jones, who equalised eight minutes later before adding his second in the 22nd minute to put Lodge ahead 2-1. However, Charity showed resilience, and Darrel Gonsalves restored parity in the 55th minute, ensuring both teams shared the points.

Carmel no match for Annandale Secondary, falling 3-1 in exciting round to action. Goal scorers were Zephan Henry, Malachi Jervis and Devon Williams.
Patentia Secondary maintained their unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 victory over President’s College. Jayden Bourne’s lone strike proved decisive, as Patentia continued to strengthen their bid for a top-two finish with one win and one draw so far.
Three Mile Secondary of Bartica secured their second consecutive win in dominant fashion, defeating Mackenzie High 5-2. Lebron Mendonca led the charge with a clinical hat-trick, scoring twice in quick succession in the 15th and 17th minutes before completing his treble on the stroke of halftime. Additional goals from Durell Washington and Lindsdale Feidtkou sealed a favourable result for Three Mile Secondary.
St Joseph High delivered the most commanding performance of the day, dismantling The Bishop’s High 15-0 in a one-sided affair. Akel Sahadeo, Joel Stephen, and Laurel George spearheaded the onslaught, combining for the majority of the goals as St Joseph surged to an 11-0 halftime lead before adding four more in the second half to cap a remarkable victory.
Annandale Secondary also impressed with a 3-1 win over Carmel Secondary, courtesy of goals from Zephan Henry, Malachi Jervis, and Devon Williams, while New Central High secured a solid 2-0 triumph against Vryman’s Erven Secondary in another encounter.
Chase’s Academic Foundation continued their strong form, brushing aside West Minster Secondary 9-0. Nyron Barrow netted twice early on, while Mark Glasgow recorded a hat-trick. Additional contributions from Shaquan David, Jaden Tasher, and Germine Garrett completed another dominant showing as the Georgetown side claimed their second straight win.
Defending champions Dolphin Secondary, however, endured another frustrating outing, playing to a 3-3 draw with Belladrum Secondary in an evenly contested match. Belladrum now sit in a strong position with two positive results from their opening games.
With the second round completed, teams will take a brief rest before returning for the decisive third round this weekend. Action resumes on April 11 and 12 at the Queen’s College ground.
The tournament is sponsored by Massy Distribution, with support from the Ministry of Education and Demerara Mutual Group.
