(Kaieteur News) – This evidence-based feeding plan aligns with global WHO recommendations and local nutritional guidelines, designed to support optimal growth, development, and long-term health for infants from birth to 2 years old.
Recommendation: Breast milk ALONE until your baby reaches 6 months of age.
Recommendation: Continue breastfeeding, and introduce age-appropriate complementary foods.
Recommendation: Continue breastfeeding, and increase the daily portion of complementary foods.
Recommendation: Continue breastfeeding, and expand access to family meals with appropriate modifications.
Recommendation: Breastfeed on demand as often as the child wants, and fully integrate the child into family meals.
Important Guidance for Non-Breastfed Infants.
Babies who are not receiving breastmilk should be given a suitable breastmilk substitute, such as age-appropriate infant formula. Consult your clinic nurse or pediatric healthcare provider for personalized guidance on appropriate substitutes, mixing instructions, and safe feeding practices to ensure optimal nutrition.
