(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division 4 ‘B’ are investigating a brazen armed robbery that occurred around 19:00hrs on Wednesday at Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
In a statement police said that an investigation has been launched into the incident which occurred about 19:00hrs. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had left home and, upon returning and approaching the door, were confronted by two masked males, both armed with what appeared to be handguns.
The suspects then allegedly relieved the 24-year-old woman of a cellular phone, while the 53-year-old woman was reportedly struck on her forehead with the handgun and relieved of a purse containing a cellular phone along with $20,000 Guyana currency.
Additional details disclosed that the suspects then entered the home and robbed the 53-year-old woman’s younger children of a tablet and cellular phone during a confrontation. After leaving the home they joined riders separately on black XR motorcycles and made good their escape in a northerly direction. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
