Nicaraguan pilots under probe for alleged $13M equipment theft at ASL
(Kaieteur News) – Three Nicaraguan pilots are under police investigation for the alleged theft of more than $13 million in aircraft equipment from Air Services Limited.
The men, who were employed by the company under work permits, abruptly resigned on Monday—raising immediate suspicion. A swift internal audit by ASL uncovered a significant breach: millions in specialised aviation equipment missing from its inventory.
A report was promptly filed, triggering a police probe that quickly zeroed in on the three pilots as prime suspects.
Law enforcement officials moved in on Tuesday, arresting the trio. They are currently in custody and being intensively questioned as investigators work to recover the missing equipment.
