Kaieteur Sports – Rising sprint sensation Athaleyha Hinckson continues to make waves on and off the track, having officially secured a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal with global sportswear giant Adidas.
The agreement, which the athlete announced on her various social media platforms recently, marks another significant milestone in what has already been a standout freshman season at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Hinckson, a CARIFTA Games U17 100m champion, has rapidly established herself among the region’s most promising young athletes.
Her explosive speed was on full display earlier this year when she clocked a personal best 7.16s in the 60m. That performance not only cemented her status as Guyana’s fastest U20 athlete over the distance, but also earned her recognition as the South American record holder.
The young sprinter has continued her upward trajectory in the outdoor season. On March 28, Hinckson delivered an impressive 11.25s in the 100m, marking a new personal best and signaling her readiness to compete at an even higher level.
Earlier in February, she also set a lifetime best of 23.46s in the 200m, further underlining her versatility and growing dominance in the sprint events.
As she prepares to represent Guyana at the upcoming CARIFTA Games over the Easter weekend, expectations are high for another strong showing. Hinckson will be looking to build on her junior success and translate her collegiate form onto the regional stage, where she has already proven herself a champion.
Her Adidas deal also places her in elite company, as she joins fellow Guyanese and 400m standout Tianna Springer, who signed her own NIL agreement with the brand in 2024.
Together, the two athletes highlight a growing Caribbean presence within one of the world’s most recognizable sports brands.
For Guyana, Hinckson’s rapid rise represents a bright future for the nation’s athletics programme, with a new generation of talent making its mark on the global stage.
