(Kaieteur News) – Police have launched an investigation into an alleged assault on a 52-year-old woman after a video of the incident surfaced and began circulating on social media.
The victim, who resides in the Sara Johanna Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, reported the matter to investigators on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at approximately 14:30 hrs. at Regional Police Headquarters Division 4 ‘B’.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at the woman’s residence on Monday, March 23, 2025, and involved another female from the same community.
Investigators have since confirmed that the altercation was captured on video, which was later shared widely across social media platforms, prompting police intervention.
Statements have been obtained from both the victim and her daughter as authorities intensify efforts to locate and question the suspect.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
