(Kaieteur News) – Relatives of 15-year-old Tiana Chapman, the teen mom who was stabbed 25 times by her child’s father, are begging for justice even as the Guyana Police Force (GPF) pursues leads on the man’s whereabouts.
Tyrese Chapman, 20, in an interview with Kaieteur News said that his sister’s recovery is progressing well. Notwithstanding, the young man expressed deep sorrow over what his little sister experienced. He detailed years of abuse at the hands of the accused, Christopher Ali.
“I want me sister get justice budday…[at] night he gon’ come and beat up me sister and I does gadda save me sister. All them bruises and so on me sister back. Up to now. Beat she up and so. And he don’t look after the baby,” the young man said.
Reflecting on the stabbing, Tyrese said his sister was afraid of Ali and opted to overnight at her friend’s home.
He said that the series of events that evening unfolded rapidly, and he could not have imagined that Ali would try to kill his sister.
“He send me lil buddy first. He said ‘[Name provided], go and see if yuh sister deh, or go and seh the Welfare and the Police deh hay’. Me sister send me to see if the Welfare and the Police come. I come hay (at home) and me ain’t see no police, I see he. I ask he wuh he doing inside the yard and he ain’t answer,” the brother recalled.
Ali then reportedly took the younger brother to the friend’s home a short distance away where Tiana stayed. Tyrese recounted that he heard his sister screaming and ran to get his uncles nearby, but by the time they arrived, the teen was already dealt 25 stabs about her body and left bloodied in the chair, while Ali made good his escape.
Tyrese told Kaieteur News that he was not in agreement with the relationship Ali, 28, shared with his teen sister.
“I went bush, and I come home, and I asked mommy who duh? is who? mommy seh is Tiana boy. Me ain’t seh nothing after…I walk out. I ain’t want get involve. I get nuff licks fuh me sister them. I tell them, but them ain’t want do nothing,” he lamented.
Kaieteur News understands that the Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) was involved in Tiana’s life after it was reported that she became pregnant.
Ali’s mother told this publication last Thursday that she too was vehemently against the relationship, but her displeasure irked her son, who estranged himself from her. Moreover, she contended that Tiana’s family should have put their feet down against her involvement with Ali.
Tiana was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the New Amsterdam Hospital on March 3 and her survival is considered miraculous by family. Her brother told Kaieteur News that the teen is on a positive path to recovery.
“She’s doing good, she’s talking and so. She’s eating. She din forget she baby, but we send pictures and she’s remembering,” he explained.
Images shared confidentially with this newspaper showed the teen sitting independently and interacting with relatives. Notwithstanding, she is still experiencing “nuff pain,” her brother disclosed.
Efforts to contact the Regional Commander, Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus proves futile.
