(Kaieteur News) – Thirty-three-year-old Travis Jacobis called ‘Gangster Buck’, a labourer of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was on Thursday remanded to prison for murder.
The accused made his first appearance at the Wales Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Rondell Weever.
Jacobis was not required to plead to the indictable charge which states that on March 1, at a shop in Lust-En-Rust Squatting Area, he killed 28-year-old construction worker Joel Anthony Tamesar. He was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned to April 10, 2026.
According to the police, Tamesar of La Parfaite Harmonie was at a shop when Jacobis, reportedly entered and an altercation ensued.
During the confrontation, Jacobis allegedly armed himself with a knife and inflicted a stab wound to Tamesar’s left chest before fleeing. Tamesar was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital by public-spirited citizens, but died while receiving treatment.
The suspect was found hiding in a trench at Lust-En-Rust and arrested.
