(Kaieteur News) – A 20-year-old woman from Third Avenue, Bartica, was left nursing injuries after she was assaulted at Bartica’s Golden Beach on Monday night.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement on Thursday identified the woman as Nolecia Edmonds. According to police, the woman was reportedly involved in a confrontation with a 32-year-old welder from the Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica.
Preliminary investigations revealed that at around 20:25h an argument ensued between the duo.
“It is alleged that the two encountered each other at Bartica Golden Beach, where an argument ensued, during which the suspect reportedly assaulted the victim, causing injuries,” police said.
The victim was later taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where she was treated and sent home.
The matter was reported to police, and the suspect was subsequently contacted and arrested.
Investigations are on-going.
