(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Public Works on Saturday announced that the $144.9 million road network project that was being executed at Rupertee Village, Region Nine is now completed.
“This infrastructure upgrade significantly improves the daily commute for residents of the village in Region Nine. Further, drainage works were recently completed to complement the road work,” the ministry said in a statement.
Kaieteur News understands that the $144,958,800 project began on June 16, 2025, and included the construction of one kilometre of asphaltic concrete roadway with a stabilised base. The scope also saw the completion of road markings and drainage works to support proper water runoff and long-term durability. Modern Urban Investments was contracted to undertake the project.
Similarly, in Maruranau Village, the rehabilitation of the road network is currently being executed at a cost of $181,119,960. The project involves the construction of one kilometre of asphaltic concrete roadway with a stabilised base. Paving is currently ongoing, and residents will soon have improved internal access that supports daily transportation and community activities.
The ministry stated that the execution of these projects enhances mobility, safety and overall connectivity within the communities.
Kaieteur News understands that the Ministry was allocated $10 billion for the hinterland road programme this year.
