(Kaieteur News) – A 30-year-old man was on Friday stabbed to death at after he was involved in a scuffle at a construction site at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, Region Three.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Fendel Trotman called ‘Johnny’ or ‘Rasta Man’ of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.
According to the police, the incident occurred about 10:00hrs on Friday. Reports are that Trotman was working as a mason on a two-storey concrete structure along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road when an altercation occurred between him and another male.
“The confrontation allegedly escalated into a scuffle during which the suspect, who was armed with a knife, inflicted a stab wound to the deceased’s chest before fleeing the scene on foot,” police reported.
Trotman was rushed to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
Police reported that a knife sheath was found in the building and CCTV cameras in the vicinity were identified and will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
Trotman’s body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. No arrests have been made.
