Bartica man gets four years in jail for drug trafficking
(Kaieteur News) – A 43-year-old man from Bartica was on Friday sentenced to four years imprisonment after pleading guilty to trafficking narcotics when he appeared at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court.
Asif Bacchus, of Arcade Street, was charged with Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
He appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir who read the charge to him.
