(Kaieteur News) – A 36-year-old sawman of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, Region Two was on Friday jailed for three-years after pleading guilty to shooting at a police constable in 2024.
He was identified as Dhanraj Persaud, known also as “Javin” or “Beer.” Reports are that he discharged a loaded firearm with intent at Ramesh Singh, a police constable attached to the Suddie Police Station on October 23, 2024.
He was recently arrested and appeared Friday at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed.
The sawman pleaded guilty after the indictable offence was read to him.
Magistrate Mohamed then sentenced him to three years behind bars following his guilty plea.
