Kaieteur News – The Central Housing and Planning Authority on Monday issued a cease and desist order to the owners of a property in Bel Air, Georgetown who have rented same for the operation of a Chinese supermarket.
The notice was addressed to Ms. Zabedei Ramdial and Mr. Kamoul Ramdial of Lot 22, being a part of Area “L” known as Bel Air Village. The notice read: “The Central Housing and Planning Authority has observed that you and your agents have unauthorisedly, unlawfully, and illegally commenced operation of a Supermarket at Lot 22, being a part of Area “L” known as Bel Air Village, part of Plantation Bel Air, Georgetown, in breach of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 20:01.”
The Central Housing and Planning Authority pursuant to Section 22 of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 20:01 hereby issues this Notice for you to: “IMMEDIATELY CEASE AND DESIST FROM THE UNAUTHORISED, UNLAWFUL, AND ILLEGAL operation of Supermarket at Lot 22, being a part of Area “L” known as Bel Air Village, part of Plantation Bel Air, Georgetown.”
According to the notice the owners are advised to apply to the Central Housing and Planning Authority through the Single Window portal for planning permission to carry out any non-residential development at the property. “Your failure to comply with this Notice will result in the Central Housing and Planning Authority taking such legal action as is necessary to enforce the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 20:01 without further notice to you.”
