(Kaieteur News) – Eighty-eight-year-old Michael Raymond Haralall Tamassar called ‘Mike’, the suspect in the murder of his wife Lackandai Tamessar, 89, of Ogle Airstrip Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Thursday morning found dead at Bladen Hall School Compound Living Quarters, ECD.
Police in a statement said that the elderly man reportedly died between 07:00h and 09:38h. Investigations revealed that the deceased was last seen alive at about 07:00h by his son with whom he was residing. He was discovered unresponsive at about 09:38h in the living room.
“Mike’s body was examined by Detectives for marks of violence, but none were seen on the exposed parts. He was then escorted to the Buxton Health Centre and was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty,” police said it its statement.
Tamassar’s body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The 88-year-old man was arrested for his wife’s murder about a week ago. Police said the woman was likely murdered between December 26, 2025 about 16:00hrs and December 30, 2025 about 13:00hrs at the Ogle Airstrip Road home.
Investigations are ongoing.
