(Kaieteur News) – The ex-girlfriend of Linden businessman, Amar Jones who was gunned down last week at Half Mile Wismar was on Tuesday charged with his murder, police have reported.
Shania Benjamin, a 24-year-old Clerk of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden has been charged in connection with the alleged murder, which occurred on Tuesday December 30, 2025 at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.
On Tuesday Benjamin appeared before Her Worship Rushelle Liverpool at the Linden Magistrate’s Court via Zoom, where the charge was read to her and she was not required to plead. She was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned to Monday February 16, 2026.
Benjamin was arrested last week. Police in a statement had said that preliminary investigations revealed that Jones was travelling in a motor canter along Half Mile Public Road when he was approached by a motor car from which an unidentified male exited and discharged several rounds in his direction before re-entering the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, police ranks observed the victim motionless in the driver’s seat of the motor canter. He was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body was later taken to G-Jetsco Funeral.
