(Kaieteur News) – Police on Monday were able to retrieve a stolen Nissan X-Trail following a high-speed chase with the suspect through the streets of Linden after the vehicle was picked up at Green Heart Street Mackenzie, Linden allegedly by a man of unsound mind.
The incident occurred about 19:30hrs in the vicinity of Green Heart Street, Mackenzie, Linden, police said in a press release. The incident involved a black 2017 Nissan X-Trail motor vehicle PWW 2165, property of a distillery company.
Initial enquiries revealed that the vehicle was parked on the western side of the roadway while the driver entered a supermarket. Upon his return, the vehicle was observed missing and a report was made to the Mackenzie Police Station. Acting on information received, Police later observed the vehicle and intercepted it in the vicinity of Redwood Crescent, Mackenzie, Linden. A 27-year-old male of Mackenzie was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station where he remains in custody. CCTV footage will be reviewed. No injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing.
