(Kaieteur News) – Police are currently looking for two suspects who were allegedly involved in the Lovers’ Lane shooting on Sunday.
Police in an update Wednesday said investigations are ongoing into the incident which saw a 32-year-old vendor of Central Amelia’s Ward and a 36-year-old carpenter of South Amelia’s Ward being injured.
“Investigators later revisited the scene and conducted further inquiries. CCTV footage from nearby premises is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. One of the injured men, who remains hospitalised in stable condition, was further interviewed by investigators,” police said.
Furthermore, “Police are currently seeking two persons of interest as part of the ongoing efforts to advance the investigation.”
The two men were on Sunday wounded in a drive-by shooting incident at Lovers’ Lane, Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
According to police investigation, the vendor was standing in front of his shop, while the carpenter was walking close by, when a motor car drove up and came to a halt near them, during which someone inside discharged several rounds in their direction.
The vendor received a gunshot wound to the chest, while the carpenter sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. Both men were taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where they were seen and treated.
The vendor has since been referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further medical attention, while the carpenter remained at the Linden Hospital Complex receiving treatment. Their conditions were reported as stable.
