(Kaieteur Sports) – Elite XI crowned Factory Prize Under-13 10-10 champion after beating Carbon XI by eight wickets on Saturday at Airport ground, East Bank Demerara.
Carbon XI won the toss and opted to take first strike but they only managed 64-7 at the expiration of the 10-overs.
Elite XI, in reply, safely reached the target with 9 balls to spare with Captain Adrian Peters leading the way with an unbeaten 37.
He got useful support from Carlos Medina with 12 not out as Christina Medina and Matthew Badree took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, skipper Anthony Indar top-scored for Carbon XI with an impressive, unbeaten 37 which contained three fours while Christina Medina contributed 12.
Shazad Sookwah grabbed 2-0 from one off-spin over while Peters returned with the ball to prove his all-round capability by snatching two wickets as well but he conceded three runs from his maximum two overs.
Jaden Wilkinson also grabbing two wickets for 18 runs from two overs.
Sookwah was name player-of-the-match for his brilliant, bowling performance and he received a trophy.
A trophy each was given to the winning and runners-up teams while all the players in the final collected medals.
Three teams participated with Regulator XI of Soesdyke the other side. Carbon XI of Soesdyke and Elite XI from Timehri.
Meanwhile, at the end of the day’s proceedings, a team was selected to play against hosts Wakenaam on Saturday.
The team reads: Adrian Peters (Captain), Anthony Indar (Vice-Captain), Michael Jairam, Christina Medina, Aman Mohamed, Quon Taylor, Jaden Wilkinson, Keayes Hollingsworth, David Raghu, Jaden Narine, Vishal Sookwah and Shazad Sookwah.
