Britton John dominates Farms Up/Devlon 30-Lap Cycle Road Race
(Kaieteur News) – Britton John produced a commanding performance on Sunday to capture the senior category of the Farms Up/Devlon 30-lap cycle road race, staged around the outer circuit of the National Park.
The event, organised by the Flying Ace Cycle Club, attracted cyclists across several categories and provided another competitive test on the National Park circuit.
John proved strongest over the 30-lap senior contest, completing the race in one hour, 53 minutes and 36 seconds to secure the top position. Alexander Leung crossed the finish line second, while Robin Persaud claimed third.

Aron Newton finished fourth, followed by Alex Mendes in fifth and Paul De Nobrega in sixth.
John’s victory was further highlighted by collecting four primes, demonstrating his ability to repeatedly contest and win intermediate sprints throughout the race. Jamual John captured one prime, while Mendes also took one.
Persaud, meanwhile, enjoyed a strong day of racing, taking the Open Veterans category. Mendes finished second, with Segun Hubbard completing the podium in third.
Leung also had a productive outing, winning the Junior category in addition to his runner-up finish in the senior race.
In Category Four, Colis Williams emerged victorious, with Quincy Punch taking second and Kevin Seaton finishing third.
The Veterans 50+ category was won by Ian Jackson, who finished ahead of Nigel London and Dion David.
At the conclusion of the day’s racing, prizes were presented to the successful cyclists by VanDyke Dale Vansluytman and others, bringing the event to a close.
The Farms Up/Devlon race forms part of the Flying Ace Cycle Club’s continued efforts to provide competitive opportunities for cyclists across multiple age and ability categories, while helping to maintain an active racing calendar for the sport in Guyana.
