Kaieteur News – Leader of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, Azruddin Mohamed said he and his team are ready and will be working tirelessly to hold the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) government accountable while in Parliament.
The party leader made the commitment while speaking with Kaieteur News on Wednesday. With his eyes on taking government at the next general elections, Mohamed told this newspaper that as they prepare to take up the role as the main opposition party, “We will be working tirelessly to ensure we hold the PPP accountable, whatever they promise in their manifesto they have to deliver, whatever we have in our manifesto we will pitch it to them too.” “We will be on their necks every single day,” he added.
While President Irfaan Ali is yet to disclose and swear in his new Cabinet members, Mohamed related that he is finalising his list of parliamentarians. Having gained 16 seats at the elections, Mohamed revealed the names of 10 persons on his list. These include: himself, former MPs: Dawn Hastings- Williams of Region Seven, Tabitha Sarabo- Halley and Natasha Singh-Lewis.
Also on the list are: Vishnu Panday (former Director of Agriculture at GuySuCo), Gobin Harbajan of Region Six, Nandranie Singh, Beverly Cornelius of Region Two, Dr. Gordon Barker of Region Three, and Dr. Ryan Richards of Region 10. “Our MPs represent all the races, we have young people, we have women in the mix,” he said noting that they have persons to focus on all the various sectors. Mohamed’s party emerged with the second highest number of votes following the elections. They received over 109,000 votes beating off the PNCR-led APNU coalition.
