Two arrested for gunpoint robbery
(Kaieteur News) – Police have arrested two suspects, ages 25 and 18 for robbing an auto-body technician at gunpoint at Covent Garden New Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
In press-statement, police said the victim was walking in the eastern direction along a road at Covent Garden New Scheme, when two bandits pounced upon him.
The man was holding his cell-phone when the men rode up from behind on a motorcycle.
One of the suspects jumped off the bike and pointed a gun at the victim before grabbing the cell-phone from his hand.
The men escaped, but quick response from police led to the capture of two suspects and the recovery of the stolen phone.
Investigations are ongoing.
