Kaieteur Sports – Devastating knocks from Trinbago Knight Riders’ (TKR) openers Alex Hales and Colin Munro punched holes in the Guyana Amazon Warriors last night, as they suffered a crushing 6 wicket loss last night at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium, Tarouba T&T.
After a batting first, it was a string of scores including some late end knocks from Dwaine Pretorius (21), hard-hitting Guyanese all-rounder Quentin Sampson who nailed three sixes in his 19-ball 25 in his first match and Romario Shepherd (19), who tried to keep Guyana from sinking badly after a horrid top-order malfunction.
Shai Hope (39), opener Ben McDermott (14) and Hassan Khan (17) managed to get out the block up front before losing their way as the Warriors seemed out of character for the first time this season.
TKR’s mixed combination of seamer Terrance Hinds (2-35) along with spin wizards Akeal Hosein (3-27) and Sunil Narine (1-17), did a fantastic job in keeping the Warriors under 200.

Chasing a small total by their standards, TKR blitzed their way to 169-4 in 17.2 overs after a devastating collaborative effort from in-form openers Munro who smacked 52 off 30 (6×4 3x) and a more aggressive Hales who nailed 7 sixes and 3 fours in his 43-ball 74.
Their approach blew the Warriors’ door off its hinges with their partnership of 116 runs, as both overseas batsmen showed why they are among the most prolific T20 scorers of the last decade.
Lone wicket-taker and Warriors skipper Imran Tahir (4-27), almost killed the hopes of TKR after bagging three wickets in an over, including big fishes Munro, Hales, captain Nick Pooran (0) and Keacy Carty (0).

However, former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard (12*) and Andre Russell (27*) then teamed up to see TKR to safety, with balls to spare. (Clifton Ross)
