Kaieteur Sports – Albion Community Centre Cricket Club thrashed Skeldon Community Centre in their match of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) First Division Two Days Cricket Competition.
In the game which was played at the Albion Community Centre over the weekend. The home team whipped the visitors by an innings and 348 runs.
Skeldon were invited to take first strike on a good batting surface and had no response to the Albion bowling attack as they were skittled out for 84.
Doing the damage with the ball for Albion were Left-arm-spinner Gouraf Ramesh with 4 wickets, while pacer Naeem Khan with 3 and Shiv Harripersaud 2 were the destroyers.
In reply, Albion led by an unbeaten double century from national U17 player Ari Afrizal Kadir and a century from national player Veerasammy Permaul raced to 494-7 declared.
Kadir, who opened the batting, resumed on his overnight 159 and went on to score an unbeaten 202. A knock which included 16 fours. He was supported by Permaul who slammed 155 (13 x4, 6×6).
Kadir and Permaul had put together 249 for the fourth wicket. There were other healthy contributions from National player Jonathan Foo 56 and Damion Cecil 46.
Albion had ended the first day on 444 for 5.
With a daunting 406 first innings’ deficit, Skeldon were demolished for a meagre 58. Dharmesh Seenaine made 20.
Khan with 5 for 16 and Ramesh with 4 for 10 were again the destroyers for Albion. The two bowlers ended the game with 8 wickets each.
Final scores in the match were Skeldon 84 and 58. Albion 494 for 7 declared.
The game between Rose Hall Community Centre (RHCC) and West Berbice was not played due to the soggy condition of the Rose Hall venue.
All matches involving the Police Cricket Club has been put on hold.
