Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday commissioned the newly reconstructed Eteringbang Police Station in Region Seven.
Minister Robeson Benn, Permanent Secretary Andre Ally, Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ Mr. Errol Watts, and Commander of Regional Police Division #7, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore were all on hand at the commissioning ceremony.
The ministry noted that the project is part of enhancing safety for the community. “Strategically situated in this vital border community, the modernised station is a critical investment in strengthening law enforcement capability and presence in the region. Equipped with upgraded infrastructure and state-of-the-art resources, the facility is designed to enable the Guyana Police Force to perform their duties more effectively, enhancing crime prevention and response times,” the ministry stated.
For the people of Eteringbang and surrounding areas, the ministry added that the station provides more accessible policing services, improved emergency response, and stronger collaboration between law enforcement and the community and that it is expected to contribute to reduced crime rates, greater social stability, and a heightened sense of safety that supports local development and prosperity.
Kaieteur News understands that over the past weeks, Minister and his team have been commissioning these newly reconstructed facilities. At one of the recent commissioning ceremony, he noted that the government is committed to ensuring that every community, whether long-established or newly emerging, has access to quality, professional law enforcement services. He added that the government continues to prioritize investments in smart infrastructure to ensure that law enforcement agencies are equipped with the tools and environment they need to keep communities secure, proactive, and connected.
