Kaieteur News – Four persons were arrested on Monday after 9.034 kilograms of cocaine, a pistol and matching rounds were discovered in a car they were traveling in and at the home of one of the suspects.
According to the Customs Anti- Narcotic Unit (CANU), its officers made the discovery along the Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (ECE) during an interception.
The officers, acting on information, found several parcels containing a whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine in the car.
A subsequent search was done at one of the suspect’s home where a 5.32 Taurus pistol with a magazine containing 14 .22 rounds, along with several black bags containing an additional quantity of cocaine were found.
The quartet was taken to CANU Headquarters, along with the suspected narcotic, which was tested and weighed.
