Kaieteur News – A 66-year-old security officer was on Wednesday placed on $100,000 bail for giving false information to a police officer.
David Alexander, who was charged with the offence and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged that on July 21, 2025 at the Brickdam Police Station Alexander knowingly gave a police corporal false information.
In his defence, the accused told the court that he and Samantha Hubbard, his landlord had an issue. He explained that on the day in question he found his apartment door open, something he considered to be strange. As a result, he made a police report.
Alexander told the court that his laptop was the only valuable thing in his apartment at the time and he thought it was stolen. However, it was subsequently recovered and the accused described his police report as a mistake.
The matter was adjourned to August 6, 2025.
