Kaieteur News – It is time for an emergency meeting by the GT Seawall. I can see old heads Burnham and Jagdeo crying in their brown rum. Forget about emergency powwow, it is a crisis summit in the old hometown that dragged these silver foxes out of retirement. The discussion is shared in summary form.
After all the work that the two of us put in, look at this horror show that the children putting on. The ole people always had it right: yuh duz mek yuh chirren; but yuh doan mek de mind. It doesn’t matter, whether biological ones or political ones. Just a set of weaklings, men and women of no backbone, no cojones. I could hear Burnham; I am not sparing the women. I could see Jagan shaking his head ruefully. After the example I set, after the blows that I took, and look to where matters have deteriorated. Warning after warning, and they all fall on deaf ears and crooked souls: guard the family jewels with a sharp eye. Even with one eye open, when sleeping. These two old geezers have a lot to lament. It is not easy for parents, Founding Fathers, to see their dreadful failures for offspring squander and sell out the family inheritance. And for what a pat on the back from the tricky people who smile at them and then juk dem.
Said Burnham: it is a matter of mere inches to move from a pat on the back to a kick in the backside. Down goes the PPP. Down goes the PNC. Down goes Guyana and Guyanese. Up goes Exxon. Up and up goes America, like the predatory eagle that it is, always has been. Burnham again: I outsmarted the white man before, but then he outlasted me. Man, what would I give to have another go at him!
Buddy, yuh tellin’ me bout the white man, from the carpetbagger (aall de foreign exchange fetch away) to the Britisher. I kno dem bannas. Look what deh duh tuh mee. Now look wha deh gat Guyanese doin to adder Guyanese. Look at dah bank bizness now stirring up all dem disputes.
That is why I moved and nationalize those banks. Send the whole pack of those exploiters to get their boarding passes at Atkinson Field. By the way, ah hear de name the airport after you, Cheddi. Nice job! And you duz taak about who pull a fass wan pun who.
Writer’s note: The brown rum is going down hard, lacking in its old smoothness. Even the sea breezes can’t cool down these two agitated Guyanese thoroughbreds. Look at what Guyanese have to do today for trailblazers and difference-makers. Who is not a chicken is a Crapo. Who is not a dray horse is a jackass! The white man riding them like camels and got them looking like giraffes. Who neck ain’t long, deh mouth lang, and deh haan fass. I hate to say it, but the man in Caracas was right all along: Guyana is a US puppet, a US stooge.
I could write a book on that, Forbes. The Yankees ban me from the Embassy, they ban me from America, before those, they ban me from government. Now history repeating itself. Look at how de tryin to ban de li’bhai from getting into guvment. There is this big fanfare with the Carter Center, the OAS, the UN, BRICs, and now everything bruk up. It is a big joke. Look at the hypocrisy of the US and the running dogs of capitalism. The US had no problem with old man Marcos, though he was in stink and dutty bizness. The US had no concerns about the Shah of Iran, though he killed lots of his own people. The US didn’t have concern nor care about Pinochet or Noreiga. The Chilean wiped out a good fraction of his people; and the Panamanian wipe out Black Americans in South Central LA.
The more times change the more they stay the same, sez Burnham. Tell me about dat, sez Jagan. Now deh gat PPP rogues and PNC scoundrels drinking from the same cup and insisting that that is for country and citizen. They are both getting tired, overcome by the weight of the tragedy that is today’s Guyana. Jagan and Burnham look at each other, and out pops the same question at the same time. Where did we go wrong? Then another: what sin did we commit to have such wastrels for children?
Writer’s note: since the two ancients were overcome with emotion, I close this out for them. What will become of Guyanese when Guyana’s leaders rollover and wait for a rub on their bellies from America? What will become of the people who follow such losers? Guyana isn’t a country. Guyana is a kuk-a-beh colony.
