(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh sometimes you have to be careful when you go to hospital, because you might go in sick and come out wondering if you was the patient or the examination.
Take this 85-year-old grandfather who get rushed to the hospital with a possible concussion. Doctor come over and start asking questions.
“Do you know where you are?”
“Georgetown Public Hospital.”
“What city you in?”
“Georgetown.”
“Do you know who I am?”
“Dr. Tamilson.”
Grandfather then turn to the nurse and seh, “I hope he don’t ask me no more questions.”
Nurse ask, “Why?”
He seh, “Because all dem answers was on he badge.”
But hospital got another problem: sometimes the patients themselves start behaving like they running a secret society. Two men was roommates in hospital. Both sick and weak, and for weeks neither could talk.
Then one day, one man finally whisper, “American.”
The other one whisper back, “Guyanese.”
Another week pass.
“Danny,” seh the first man.
“Sunil,” seh the other.
Another week pass.
The first man said, “Cancer.”
The other replied, “Virgo.”
Then there is the man who visit a mental hospital and ask the director how dem determine whether somebody insane enough to be committed. Director tell him they fill a bathtub and give the patient a bucket, a teacup and a teaspoon, then ask him to empty the tub.
Man seh, “Well, obviously a sane person would choose the bucket because it bigger.” Director shake he head. “No. A sane person would pull the plug.” Then the director look at him and ask, “Would you like a bed next to a window?”
Talk half. Leff half.
