Gaza death toll rises as 120 killed in 24 hours
Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 120 bodies were brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours.

Israel continues to pound the nothern city’s Zeitoun neighbourhood, with a recent attack killing a man, his wife and their three children.
Displaced Palestinians in the area told Al Jazeera that the bodies of those killed in recent attacks are “lying in the streets”, and that continued Israeli shelling threatens dozens of people trapped in their homes with death and starvation.
The Palestinian Civil Defence in the Gaza Strip told Al Jazeera that they were unable to respond to any distress calls from the Zeitoun neighborhood because it was completely surrounded by Israeli fire.
Israeli forces carried out overnight raids in multiple towns across the Tulkarem governorate, intensifying their ongoing military operations in the northern occupied West Bank, the Wafa news agency reports.
In Kafr al-Labad, east of Tulkarem, Israeli troops stormed the town with two military vehicles and ground soldiers, firing heavily and indiscriminately in the streets. Soldiers reportedly assaulted an elderly resident, Tayseer Aboudi, by hurling stun grenades directly at him.
Troops also shot at surveillance cameras on storefronts, searched several vehicles, and raided homes.
Separate Israeli military units raided the towns of Illar, Sida and Qaffin, north of Tulkarem, and Anabta to the east.
Israeli raids and incursions have become a near-daily occurrence across the West Bank, particularly in the Tulkarem area. During these raids, infrastructure is often destroyed, while many are assaulted, arrested or shot by Israeli soldiers.
UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has warned that food shortages in Gaza are “pushing children to the brink”, and many could die.
“UNRWA teams continue to deliver healthcare in Gaza, but medical supplies – blocked by Israeli Authorities – are urgently needed,” the agency said in a post on X.
“Lift the siege. Let the UN, including UNRWA, save lives.”
The UN and its agencies have for weeks been pleading to be allowed to operate in Gaza, which the Israeli army has barred them from doing.
Israeli media reports say there’s been an ambush in Gaza City with a tank hit by rocket fire and later attacked with small arms with helicopters seen evacuating casualties.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 58,386 people and wounded 139,077, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, attacks and more than 200 taken captive.
