Essequibo labourer crushed to death by excavator at work site
Dead: Mervin Lochan
Kaieteur News – A 36-year-old labourer was on Saturday crushed to death by an excavator at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
The dead man was identified as Mervin Lochan.
Reports are that he was on a road project in the village when the incident occurred early Saturday morning.
Kaieteur News understands that the excavator was reversing when it struck Lochan.
He fell and one of its tracks ran over him and buried him in the sand.
In a video sent to Kaieteur News, persons were seen pulling his motionless body from beneath the sand.
Investigations are ongoing.
