10 contractors bid to construct New Care Centre for elderly at Enmore
Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security has received 10 bids from contractors interested in constructing the New Care Centre for the elderly at Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
This is according to the information provided by the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office. With no engineer’s estimate listed, the 10 bidders bid between $601 million and $2.9 billion to construct the building.
The bidders are as follow: JOP SP Construction Services – $1,843,670,520, Blue Print Builders Inc. – $601,090,500, B.M Property Investments Inc. – $1,417,223,000, Emeralds General Contracting & Distributors – $2,078,986,280, KNS Civil Engineering Contracting Services Inc. – $2,202,295,935, Sheriff Construction Inc. – $618,737,500, Urban Edge Builders Inc. – $1,217,891,500, Qingjian Group Company Guyana Inc. – $2,528,691,119.69, STP Investments Inc. – $2,437,753,200.30, and Nabi Construction Inc. – $2,953,835,668.
This publication had reported that the government in its 2024 budget presentation had mentioned the plans of constructing the elderly home at Enmore.
During the presentation of the 2024 National Budget by Senior Minister with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, it was disclosed that the government is investing in a number of services for the elderly. He noted that a number of specific interventions are targeted at improving the quality of life of the elderly. As a result, he disclosed that in the 2024 some $172 million was set aside to build the New Care Centre home for the elderly.
With now contract awarded last year for the project, the ministry however, issued tender seeking proposals to design and supervise the construction of the building. During the opening for bids for that aspect four firms had applied for the contract.
